I've sent a file to someone and they can't pick it up!
It is probably because the file has expired. When you send a file to someone they have 14 days to pick it up. After 14 days, it's permanently deleted from the server. This keeps our servers running quicker (which is better for you) as old files are cleaned up and removed.
If this has happened to you, please ask the sender to re-send the file to you. We're sorry for the hassle but we have to delete sent files after a certain amount of time or DropSend would become too slow for you to use.

Are files in my DropSend Online Storage ever deleted?
Nope. Never :) You can keep them there as long as you like.

How fast is the upload/download speed?
When you send a file with DropSend or upload a file to your DropSend storage, the transfer speed will depend on your broadband connection.
If you’re on a typical broadband connection, you should get around 20 KB per second for send/upload speed. Obviously this is slower than download speeds, which will average around 100 - 200 KB per second. Again, this will depend on your broadband connection and is in no way related to DropSend or our servers.
Also, there is no difference in transfer speed between the Free account and the paying accounts.

Can I use the Desktop Tools if I'm behind a proxy server?
Unfortunately, if you’re behind a proxy server you won’t be able to use the DropSend Desktop Tools.
We’re sorry for this inconvenience. We’re hoping to sort it out in version 2 of the Desktop Tools. However, remember you can always use the normal web interface to DropSend.

Is there a free trial period?
Yes, just sign up for the Free plan and it's free forever.

Am I tied in to a long-term contract?
We don't believe in tying you in to something that you no longer want, so you can cancel your account at any time.

Are my files secure with DropSend?
Yes. The DropSend infrastructure was designed from the ground up to be highly secure. Your files are stored on state-of-the-art servers, protected by advanced firewalls and housed in a SAS70 Type 2-certified data center.

Can I pay by check?
We currently accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Each month, an invoice is emailed to you for your records. We cannot accept checks or take orders over the phone.

What hardware and software do I need?
All you need is a modern web browser (Safari, Internet Explorer 5.5+ or Firefox). DropSend is hosted on our fast, dedicated web servers, you don't have to install a thing!

Are there any other charges?
If you live outside the EU there are no extra charges whatsoever. If you live inside the EU we are required by law to add the standard sales tax (VAT 17.5%).

What if I want to pay in £'s or another currency?
We will convert the dollar charge to your local currency using the exchange rate available on the day you sign up. To find out what the exchange rate is for your currency, go to www.xe.com.

If I sign up half-way through a month, will I be charged the full amount?
Nope. You'll be charged a pro-rata rate, based on how many days are left in the month. On the 1st of the following month, you'll be charged the full monthly fee. You can cancel at any time.

If I cancel will you refund my current months charges?
Unfortunately not. We don't issue refunds for payments that have already been taken. If you want to cancel, make sure to do it before the 1st of the month so you don't get charged for another month.

Will you ever use the email addresses of people I send files to, or enter into my Contacts list?
No Way! We're like you - we think spam is annoying and offensive. So the official answer is: We will never use your email address, or those you send files to, without your full permission.
